Malacanang on Monday said Philippines will not seek an apology from U.S. over the inverted Philippine flag incident during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting.
“We understand that the U.S. embassy has already admitted that it was an honest mistake,” said Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda.
“It was an honest mistake and therefore we moved on and we believe what is important is the relations between the U.S. and the Philippines,” he added.
The Philippine flag must always have the blue field on top because the red field symbolizes war.
As stated in Section 10 of Republic Act 8491: “The flag, if flown from a flagpole, shall have its blue field on top in time of peace and the red field on top in time of war; if in a hanging position, the blue field shall be to the right in time of peace, and the red field to the right in time of war.”
Lacierda explained that protocal officers were able to spot the mistake but because of the tight security, changes have not been made immediately.
“Our protocol offices were able to realize that the flag was inverted, but because the meeting itself had a very tight security, they were able to inform the state department at least the corresponding protocol officers of the state department,” said Lacierda.
It was Undersecretary Manolo Quezon who informed the U.S. Embassy about the error, which embassy spokesperson Rebecca Thompson said was merely an “honest mistake.”
“This thing not only happened to us. It has happened I understand also previously to other countries’ flag as well,” said Lacierda.
Lacierda said the flag mistake should not be taken badly. After all, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III had a fruitful trip to the U.S.
“What’s important…is the good news that President is going to bring home what he comes home tomorrow at 3 am,” said Lacierda.
Aquino was in the U.S. for a week-long state visit. He met with potential investors and graced the U.N. General Assembly.
Tonight’s second-season premiere offers a reassuring blast of singing, dancing and high-school-faculty power-plays. New additions to the cast include: Sunshine, an exchange student with a big smile and bigger voice (played by teenage pop star Charice, whose fan club includes Oprah Winfrey); the Justin Bieber-esque Chord Overstreet as Sam, and a new football coach, known as “the Beast” (played by Dot Jones).
While Overstreet and Jones might not be too recognizable, Gleeks may remember Charice from her multiple “Oprah” appearances. “I love all the cast. They actually really gave me a warm welcome when I was on the set,” she said. “I love my character. It’s really me. It’s very Charice.”

iDate Online, the first online interactive dating game in the Philippines open its door to the masses as its Grand Club Opening happened last February 18, 2010. This game was published by Gameclub, the same company who’s handling Special force, Twelvesky2, Crossfire and Fiesta Online.
Okay this entry would be my first glance review of this casual game. I started playing yesterday after getting an iDate Installer which was delivered to us by Gameclub personnel who is assigned in our area. Since I already have a Gameclub account I did not go through signing up for a new one but instead went directly to launching the iDate Game Client. My first impression was wonderful though I was expecting that iDate is full pledge 3D but sorry to say it’s not. However, its graphics, the well created characters, and the danceable music track collections can really carry the game.
iDate has two servers with 10 channels to choose from. As soon as you already picked the channel you want you will be prompted to create your character. Then next thing you will see the Friends lists window in which you will be seeing other players you came to know and added in that list. It then show the level of relationship with that person. The more time you play together it will somehow increase the level bar. Going to the lobby would show you all the rooms available. Rooms can be divided into Normal room and Hunting room. Normal room would be an environment where you just need to dance on the dance floor with your fellow iDate players while Hunting Room adds a little spice because you can pick a partner (should be opposite sex) and if that player chose you at the end of the dance music battle you get bonuses. As for the music tracks in-game, I sure you are familiar with some songs like Insomia, Nobody Nobody, Fire and Hot Issue. If I’m not mistaken all of these are Korean songs or remixes. Another feature of the game is the ability of the players to move around inside the room while waiting for the Room master to start the game. As you level up more and more actions you can perform in-Game.
As of this post I can say the game is fun and you can really feel that the iDate community is there. It looks like the game is a hit.
If there’s only one thing that changed with Shaina Magdayao since a nasty rumor spread about her and boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz like wildfire, it made her a stronger person and more loving and appreciative of her craft.
Shaina gave her first comments on the controversy since rumors broke in early September that she and John Lloyd were rushed to the St. Luke’s Medical Center for a rare case of “penis captivus” during heterosexual intercourse wherein the vagina captures the penis tightly and makes it impossible to break free. As such the rumor described them as being stuck together when they were brought to the Quezon City hospital.
She said the report was utterly false and baseless, and that the source had been watching “Grey’s Anatomy” too much. The US TV show had featured the rare medical occurrence in one of its episodes.
“As a person, it made me stronger,” Shaina told the entertainment press during the launch of ABS-CBN’s “Precious Hearts Romances: Alyna,” wherein she is cast in her first lead role. “Dumating ako sa point na lowest ko. Akala ko wala ng hope. But then the fact nalagpas ko ang mga binato sa akin, dumagdag lalo ang confidence ko. Nakikilala ko ang aking sarili. Nakita ko na kaya kong gawin at lagpasan ang mga problema sa buhay,
In addition, the controversy further reaffirmed her love for acting. “Na-renew ang passion ko sa craft. Dati pag sinabi sa akin na umiyak ako, ganoon iiyak na lang ako sa utos ni direk. Ngayon ramdam na ramdam ko talaga ang hirap na gampanan ang isang character katulad ni Alyna. Gusto kong patunayan that I can be someone.”
Shaina reveals how she got to know about the nasty rumor, how it affected her family and loved ones as she made an appeal to stop the false reports as she faced the press in this video:
